Summer in Singapore holds the promise of exemplary education, exotic locations, and activities galore during the International Conference on Emergency Medicine (ICEM) conference, June 9-12. This event marks the first time that the world’s premier international conference on emergency medicine will take place in Singapore—or anywhere in Asia.

The event is being organized by the Society of Emergency Medicine in Singapore and presented by the International Federation for Emergency Medicine (IFEM).

Drawing from an array of premier international speakers, practices, and topics, the ICEM 2010 scientific program will cover multiple aspects of emergency medical practiced in different environments around the world. Topics will be presented through state-of-the-art lectures, symposia, panel discussions, workshops, free communications, and poster presentations.

Attendees will hear lectures on a wide range of subjects, including trauma, critical care, pediatrics, geriatrics, and more. Also covered will be key management topics, including patient safety, EMS, medical education and simulation, risk management, and ED administration.

The ICEM 2010 scientific program will cover multiple aspects of emergency medicine around the world.

“This conference provides a chance to learn how emergency medicine is practiced all around in the world,” said Dr. Chris Tomaszewski, ACEP’s representative to ICEM. “Representatives from more than 30 countries will tell their stories—how great emergency medicine can be practiced regardless of environment.”

Preconference courses will allow physicians to improve their clinical skills in areas such as airway, pediatric resuscitation, and emergency cardiology. An EMS directors’ workshop will be taught by faculty members from around the globe.

Not only does the conference offer exceptional training and networking, the island of Singapore promises adventure and beauty. As a gateway to the Far East, Singapore is a thoroughly modern island, completely accessible thanks to an extensive public transportation system.
