The National Emergency Medicine Clinical Pathological Case (CPC) final competition took place in October in conjunction with ACEP’s Scientific Assembly in San Francisco.
Winners of the regional competitions in the Spring were invited to the finals, where emergency medicine residents presented cases that were then discussed by residency program attending physicians. In the competition, faculty members used patients’ presenting symptoms and diagnostic test results to arrive at a final diagnosis.
This year’s Resident Presenter Winner was Dr. Nadine Himelfarb from the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University in Providence, R.I. The Resident Presenter Runner-Up was Dr. Kevin Koehler from Naval Medical Center Portsmouth in Portsmouth, Va.
The Faculty Discussant Winner was Dr. Daniel Egan from St. Luke’s–Roosevelt Hospital in New York. The Faculty Discussant Runner-Up was Dr. Tala Elia from Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Mass. The awards were given during EMRA’s Fall Awards Reception in October.
