Six journalists received Excellence in Journalism Awards from the American College of Emergency Physicians during the 2009 Leadership and Advocacy Conference. The awards are presented annually for outstanding coverage of emergency medicine issues. Congratulations to this year’s winners.

• Internet Award — Donald Snyder of FoxNews.com for “Emergency Rooms in America: A Deadly Prognosis.”
• Magazine Award — Good Housekeeping’s Susan Ince for “Crisis in the ER,” a comprehensive piece about emergency department overcrowding.
• National Television Award — Bill Weir of ABC World News, who spent a day at Parkland Hospital in Dallas as part of ABC’s special series, “The Real 24—One Day in the Life.”
• Local Television Award — Monica Buchanan of WVIT-TV (NBC, Connecticut) for her investigative piece, “Going Inside the Real ER.”
• Print Award — Nancy Young of the Virginian-Pilot for “Waits Take a Toll: Bed Shortages Bottle Up Emergency Departments.”
• Print Award — Angela Stewart of the Star-Ledger (New Jersey) for her consistent excellent coverage of emergency medicine issues throughout 2008.
