The Section of Medical Humanities is soliciting submissions for its 7th Annual Writing Award. Eligible pieces are creative works published in print or online between November 2012 and August 2013. Blog entries will only be eligible if reconfigured and submitted as an independently publishable piece of creative writing. Self-nominations or nominations of someone else’s writing are both welcome. Limit two pieces per person.

The Section also is soliciting submissions for its first Visual Arts Award. This is an opportunity for artists to show off their paintings, photography, etc. Submit a digital image or file of the visual art (photograph, sculpture, textile, pottery, painting, etc). Limit two pieces per person.

Submissions for both awards are accepted from any member of ACEP. Submissions will be voted on by the members of the Section of Medical Humanities.

Nominations should be emailed to Tracy Napper (tnapper@acep.org) before Sept. 2, 2013. Submissions will be blinded before being sent to the judging panel.

The winning pieces will be announced at ACEP13 in Seattle.
