Chair of the Board, Chadd K. Kraus, DO, DrPH, CPE, FACEP, is an emergency physician and vice chair, research, in the Department of Emergency and Hospital Medicine at Jefferson Health Lehigh Valley in Allentown, Pa. He is adjunct professor of emergency medicine at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University, clinical professor of emergency medicine at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM), and professor, department of medical education at the University of South Florida, Morsani College of Medicine. Dr. Kraus is past president of the Pennsylvania College of Emergency Physicians, and a past chair of the Emergency Medicine Foundation Board of Trustees. An ABEM-certified emergency physician, with subspecialty certification in Health Care Administration, Leadership, and Management , Dr. Kraus attended medical school at PCOM in Philadelphia, completed emergency medicine residency training at Lehigh Valley Health Network in Allentown, Pa., and completed Master and Doctor of Public Health degrees at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore.

Pitzele, MD, FACEP, is an emergency physician and chief health informatics officer at Jesse Brown VA Medical Center in Chicago, and part-time attending physician at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago, a level one trauma center, and Mesa View Regional Medical Center in Mesquite, Nev., a critical access hospital. He is a past president of the Illinois ACEP chapter and member of the Illinois ACEP chapter board of directors. Dr. Pitzele has a medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine and completed an emergency medicine residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Vice President, Membership, Heidi C. Knowles, MD, FACEP, works for Integrative Emergency Services as Vice Chair and Medical Director of Emergency Medicine at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. She also serves as an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at the Texas Christian University School of Medicine. In addition, Dr. Knowles practices as a staff emergency physician at Texas Health Southlake and is the EMS Medical Director for Trinity Valley Community College in Athens, Texas. Nationally, Dr. Knowles has served as Secretary-Treasurer of ACEP and is ACEP’s representative to the Federation of State Medical Boards. She is also a past president of the Texas College of Emergency Physicians. Dr. Knowles earned her medical degree from the University of Texas at Houston Medical School and completed her emergency medicine residency at Memorial Hermann Hospital through the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.
