Feb. 18, 2013.

Now in its fourth year, the ED Director of the Year award recognizes and celebrates emergency physician leaders who have demonstrated exemplary collaborative skills in the emergency department. This collaboration is vital to producing the highest quality of patient care. This year, Blue Jay Consulting and the Emergency Nurses Association will continue to offer an award created for outstanding nursing leaders, as well. These two awards have one purpose – to bringing together both sides of the care delivery team and recognize those who demonstrate outstanding collaborative behavior.

Any member of ACEP can self-nominate for ED Director of the Year, and the leadership team of any hospital or health care system or physician group may nominate, as well. The nominee must be an Active or Life member of the College and must currently be in a leadership position in an emergency department. The nominee must demonstrate significant contributions to the department in the following categories:

  • Collaboration with nursing
  • Quality patient care
  • Operational effectiveness
  • Education
  • Community service
  • Synergistic approach to leadership within the hospital or hospital system

The award will be presented at the Emergency Department Directors Academy, Phase II, on April 29, 2013 in Dallas.

To nominate yourself or a colleague, go to www.emfoundation.org/directoraward and download the nomination form.

You will be asked to provide essential information and an abbreviated CV in PDF format to upload to the website. To ensure that the nomination application goes through, please ensure that the PDF file is less than 10 MB. Only online applications submitted by Feb. 18, 2013, at 5 p.m. (Central) will be accepted.
