Dr. Milgrim brings an expert opinion and wealth of experience about POCUS to the column for ACEP Now readers. He is an assistant professor of emergency medicine at Denver Health Medical Center, where he serves as the director of residency ultrasound education, as well as the assistant director of the ultrasound curriculum for the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Dr. Milgrim received his advanced emergency ultrasound fellowship at Denver Health and completed residency at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. Prior to launching his career in emergency medicine, Dr. Milgrim worked as a journalist and said he “is excited to utilize his writing background for medical matters.”

Dr. Milgrim takes over the reins from his “Sound Advice” predecessor, Dr. Arun Nagdev, who penned the column for nearly 10 years, during which time he helped to introduce and expand the conversation around ultrasound- guided regional analgesia for emergency clinicians, among other topics.
