On Jan. 15, 2019, ACEP President Vidor E. Friedman, MD, FACEP, Executive Director Dean Wilkerson, and key ACEP public affairs staff met individually with Sen. Bill Cassidy, MD (R-LA), Rep. Raul Ruiz, MD (D-CA), and Rep. Richard Hudson (R-NC) to discuss a federal approach to resolving out-of-network billing issues. ACEP has weighed in previously with the bipartisan Senate price transparency workgroup, spearheaded by Sen. Cassidy, discussing draft legislation the workgroup released late last year to address out-of-network billing.
