ACEP Past President Accepts American Heart Association Post

ACEP Past President Dr. Robert E. Suter has accepted a position at the American Heart Association as Vice President of Quality and Heath IT.

Dr. Suter is responsible for all health care accreditation, certification, and recognition programs associated with the AHA, both domestically and internationally, as well as all associated research programs. Dr. Suter will manage the AHA’s Guideline Advantage and Mission Lifeline programs. He also will head the Primary and Comprehensive Stroke, CHF, and STEMI, accreditation programs with the Joint Commission, the Society for Cardiovascular Care, and the American College of Cardiology. Dr. Suter will be responsible for 12 scientific committees with more $40 million dollars in grant funding and more than 60 peer-reviewed publications per year.

Dr. Suter served as ACEP President from 2004 to 2005.
