ACEP has joined other health care organizations in a national assessment of pediatric readiness across the United States. ACEP, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the Emergency Nurses Association will be part of The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) for Children Program, a multi-phase quality improvement initiative to ensure that all emergency departments are ready to care for children. The first step of the National Emergency Readiness Project is a confidential web-based assessment based on the 2009 “Guidelines for the Care of Children in the Emergency Department.”

To access the online assessment, go to www.PedsReady.org
Note that individual emergency departments may complete the assessment during their state's deployment assessment period. Although the assessment is being conducted online, it is recommended that the nurse administrator or manager print a paper copy of the assessment to assist in compiling answers prior to accessing the online version. The online version takes approximately 15-30 minutes if these suggestions are followed.
